This website is dedicated solely to my artwork, so I decided it is time to start posting some interesting things on the blog. (I do love to read blogs...but I am honesty not much of a writer.) The weather in Oklahoma has been mild to say the least. The high on Wednesday was 72! in July!! Anyway, with cooler temperatures my mind has wondered into Autumn, my favorite time of the year.
6. a couple of hours later of actual work and a couple of hours just waiting on Photoshop to save this enormous file with layers and I save two copies. One of course with layers and one flattened.
Two weeks ago, I was bitten by a brown recluse spider on my left leg, mid way under the knee. I have a photo I can upload or add to the post at a later date. FYI, yes I know it was a spider, I saw the body. I had just crawled into bed when I felt something itch on my leg. I took my right foot and scratched what was itching. Then it began to BURN!! I flipped over the covers to find the brown ant shaped body with legs detached. I got a zip lock bag (very important to collect the body if you can) and put the legs and body into it. Do not try to collect the live spider, if it is alive. You risk getting bite again. I got up and immediately washed with soap and water and put a large amount of tea-tree oil on the bite. I went to minor emergency and was given a steroid shot and antibiotics. The doctor said from the look of the bite at that time, it shouldn't turn black and leave a hole but to follow up with my regular doctor by Friday if it stayed red and looked like it was spreading.
For future reference, especially for others because frankly I don't want to go thru this again, the burning is intense at times, like a knife stabbing you in the leg...off and on, all day long. The burning and stabbing lasted about a week and a half in my case. Think toxic venom eating at your flesh and muscle, yeah. Sounds fun right. I work as a graphic artist, so I was able to stay at work, in fact I was working 8 hours after the spider bite me and continued to work. I never took a sick day. I followed the doctors instructions and kept my injured leg elevated and covered with ice packs for the first week. I did follow up with my regular doctor by Thursday, because I had a massive rash with tremendous heat on my upper torso... from the antibiotics, which are now on my allergic reaction chart. That took 3 days to get out of my system with the help of benedryl.
By one and a half weeks the bite started to shrink. Right now, it is small and starting to close up and scab. I was extremely lucky and blessed. Do a google search for brown recluse spider bite and look at the photos. It is a scary thing! Anyway, this is also why I haven't produced any new art. I have been drugged up pretty hard on the benedryl after work.
The Rainy weather I posted about has been going on for the past two weeks at least and spiders start to come in the house. They find whatever cracks they can. Flip your bedsheets and flip your clothing. I am officially paranoid about them now. I could have cared less about spiders before all of this.
I do need to give credit to the technology center I took my basic graphic design training at. They showed a video during my first year on spider bites. The person in the video had been bit and didn't do anything for a few days. (act immediately if it burns and especially if you know it was a spider) Their leg from the knee down in the video was purple!! and I remember they had to be in the hospital for over a month to try and save their leg. Scary video and it stuck. This is why I knew I had to act quickly with my situation. (and here is my disclaimer for the post above...I am not a doctor and can not given you medical advice and I will not be held responsible for your condition if you follow the ramblings above. Entertainment purposes only. aka you can not sue me : ) Sorry, about the disclaimer, but the age we live in, who knows what can become of a posting online.
It has been raining a lot here in Oklahoma the past couple of days. The other night I was driving home from work and could barely see the road (this was around 11 pm) ... sheets of rain pouring down. I focused on the white line and the red headlights in front of me and slowly made it all the way. I did hit a blowing box and when I parked I checked my front bumper to see if anything was wrong.
Well if I would have read the setting for this website, I would have figured out that there was a blog posting option right here on weebly. I was thinking the other day, I really don't reach many people on facebook any more. The fan site is pretty worthless in my opinion, as the post don't reach everyone on the list. So I was really thinking about deleting my old blogger site and opening a fresh new blog. Wah lah! It's already here.
I can't guarantee that it will be updated every week. : ) but welcome to this little bit of web I can call my very own.
